PSYCHIATRIC PRINCIPLES

AN INTRODUCTION TO PSYCHIATRIC PRINCIPLES
Applications & Methods
The Concept-Therapy Institute offers a condensed course in Psychiatric Principles designed to acquaint you with your own subconscious, that your life may be more peaceful, happy, and prosperous. You are instructed in how to cope with detrimental influences which may come to you from the depths of your mind.
The instruction given in this short course is not intended to create a Doctor. The course is designed to give a comprehensive explanation of the methodology used to rid the mind of unwanted tendencies.
The mind of a young child may be likened to a field wherein one plants seed. Childhood experiences are the seeds that are planted in the child's mind. Many painful experiences become lodged in the memory box, just as seeds get planted in the ground.
When conditions are right, these negative experiences (taking the form of attitudes or concepts) are inclined to express themselves in the actions of the person regardless of age. The individual involved is usually not aware that they are memories of incidents which may have happened many years earlier. In fact, one may have forgotten them entirely. They come forth as a vibration that triggers an act or actions.
In standard books on Psychiatric subjects, there are long lists of Tendencies which are classified as interferences with a person's normal behavior. Among them will be found Phobias (fears), Anxieties, Compulsions, Inferiority Complexes, and Tendencies Toward Illness. With the proper instruction, you can learn to recognize these tendencies in yourself and can be taught how to cope with them.
Course Objective
Through this study, one can "Know Oneself." With the knowledge of what to do about abnormal tendencies, you can eliminate Negative expressions from your life, gaining better health, peace of mind, and freedom from enslavement to subconscious direction.
Doctors of various schools have found that many physical diseases may have their origin in the subconscious. For instance, Chronic Indigestion may result from disgust related to other persons with whom one is associated. What one may be saying with the body, because they fear to say it with words, is You make me sick!
In many cases, Stomach Cramps and Colitis may occur in persons who, living a life of sacrifice, giving of themselves, doing favors and being considerate of others... feel that they get very little in return. Actually, they may be seething with resentment at the apparent unfairness of it all... causing bodily discomfort.
Skin conditions, Rashes, Eczema etc., may be expressions of irritation at something or someone.
Attacks of this type may be related to a feeling of hostility in association with an event which has already or may be about to occur.
Resentments and feelings of hostility that we experience are usually associated with those who are either near and dear to us or those whom we fear. We are often unable to give expression to true causes, hesitant at hurting those we love or, we fear the possible penalty of asserting ourselves to those we fear parents, employers, or others in authority.
Our goal is to find some way to communicate our need for understanding from those we love or fear, relative to certain situations. A doctor can do much for patients by obtaining knowledge and taking the time to understand their feelings. This seldom requires a long, drawnout analytical program or time-consuming techniques. It calls for only a short period needed to pinpoint the patient's resentments and hostilities and show how they may be expressed through the body.
BENEFITS FROM STUDYING AND APPLYING PSYCHIATRIC PRINCIPLES
lmprove Relationships
The course in Psychiatric Principles teaches the student to correct in himself or another (if qualified to do so) maladjustments of personal, emotional, social, and spiritual life. It is well known that the body and mind are not seperate but closely related and coordinated. In both health and illness they act as one, a composite a true unity of function. A person cannot experience an emotion, mild or intense, without its registering in every cell or tissue of the body. Various physical symptoms may arise on the basis of underlying emotional problems.
Identify and Treat Illness Originating in the Mind
Many illnesses have their origin in the mind. Individuals with such conditions are often given treatment as if their symptoms were due to organic causes. What may be indicated in such cases is the uncovering of hidden emotional problems of which the physical effects, like headaches or nausea, are only physical expressions.
Understand and Deal with Childhood Experiences
All of us have had our childhood hurts. These events, along with the feelings of pain, sorrow, fear, or inferiority may be memories buried in the subconscious.
Analyze and Eliminate Negative Tendencies
Through the study of psychiatric principles, as well as those of psychoanalysis, and mental abnormalities, students are able to determine if one is affected by any of the phobias, anxieties, compulsions, complexes, or inferiorities which lurk in so many subconscious minds. We teach a method by which one can remove these impediments to health and happiness.
Master Your Emotions
Every emotion registers itself in the body. One who cannot control negative emotions is ill to some degree. Fear in the mind serves to raise the blood pressure and may interfere with proper heart action. Worry can disturb an otherwise normal digestive system. Hatred and jealousy have brought untold illness in their wake. Each negative emotion has an affect and bodily health suffers as a consequence.
Control of the emotions is the great secret. Valuable knowledge on control is taught in Psychiatric Principles. Psychiatric Principles shows how these memories may affect behavior, unknown to the conscious mind. Frequently, this causes difficulty unless understanding is brought to bear.
Guide Children with Understanding
If you learn how the mind works, as a parent or teacher, you will be in a position to guide children to grow up happy as healthy individuals. Children can be taught to make good grades in school, to get along with playmates and avoid squabbles and disappointments, plus a host of other things. Parents and teachers who take the course in Psychiatric Principles have at their command a powerful tool to assure children of better, happier lives.
Improve the Family Health
Negative thinking and talk may affect a person's health. Not only can one make oneself ill, but such feelings tend to spread to others in the environment. Many people can become ill from psychic causes originating in others.
That is why we have a great, new science of healing called Psychosomatic Medicine. The word "psycho" has to do with the treatment, therefore, is Treating the Inner Forces to Cure the Outer Body."
Get Your Ideas Across
As a salesman, a club, church, or lodge member, there are times when you want your ideas to prevail. You can be in a much better position to exert influence among your acquaintances once you learn more about how the mind works.
Learn the Art of Giving Suggestions
Everyone is amenable to suggestion. If a person gives a negative suggestion and it is accepted, then a great deal of harm has been done. On the other hand, if a positive suggestion is given and accepted, a great deal of good can be achieved. Learn this and be a power for good in the world. Remember...
The Kingdom of Heaven is within You... and He Who Knows Himself Will Find It.
Understanding One's Self
This course is designed to acquaint the student with the main principles of psychiatry so that one may understand one's self. That self strives to express through the reasoning mind. Until we are aware of the principles involved, we stand defenseless and open to all kinds of negative influences and psychic infections. We can guard only against that which we know about. With this knowledge, life will be healthier, happier, and more satisfying.
